    <narrative>2026 Venezuela Earthquake Acute Crisis Joint Response</narrative>
  </title>
  <description type="1">
    <narrative>On 24 June 2026, Venezuela was hit by two consecutive earthquakes (7.2 and 7.5 magnitude, USGS). More than half of the health facilities are non-functional, while those that remain partially operational are overwhelmed by a patient surge. Referral hospitals in Greater Caracas are overwhelmed, facilities in La Guaira are heavily damaged. To decongest high-complexity facilities, secondary health centers are activated to absorb mild cases; however, they don’t have capacity anymore to provide routine primary care, prenatal follow-ups, or medication for chronic illnesses. Bilateral donations provided medical supplies but sustainability is uncertain and shortages of essential medicines persist. In addition, water access is at 0–25% of normal levels in parts of the Capital District and collapsed drainage and sanitation infrastructure and lack of essential hygiene items is driving acute epidemic risk. According to SC’s RNA, child protection (CP) is a critical priority. Thousands of displaced children are living in streets and informal camps, many separated from caregivers and at high risk of violence, exploitation. Poor lighting and unregulated volunteer medical staff increase safeguarding risks, particularly for girls. An estimated 3.9 million children face urgent multi-sectoral needs, lacking adequate shelter, clean water, sanitation, and essential supplies. Significant gaps remain in Caracas on CP, WASH, and primary healthcare, with limited partner capacity to respond at scale. Water-supply operations to date have concentrated on La Guaira and no partners are delivering hygiene items (IMC SitRep 01; SC RNA, 26 Jun). On the request of MoH, SC and partners will deliver an integrated Health, WASH, and CP response in Caracas.</narrative>

    <narrative>SC, Fundana and Paluz provide integrated mobile health clinics, CP, mobile safe spaces and WASH services in Caracas. Paluz deploys a mobile health clinic delivering primary healthcare in 10 locations, reaching 5538 people . Water and hygiene items, are provided at clinics and in safe spaces and in surrounding communities—initially through water trucking—while sustainable solutions are established. Protection is mainstreamed across all interventions. Mobile health clinics are co-deployed with CP teams to identify and refer at-risk children, provide case management, PFA and family tracing and reunification (FTR).</narrative>
