Solomon Islands Safe Families
The Safe Families program acknowledges the role of the family and community in preventing violence and supporting survivors and therefore forms a significant component of the multi-faceted approach that is necessary in order to effect lasting change. Oxfam proposes a strategic approach which catalyses and fosters change at individual and collective levels; in informal and formal institutions; shifts women?s and men?s attitudes and beliefs; and increases women?s access to resources in order to expedite and prioritise VAW and F&SV.

The Womanitarian project - Solomon Islands
"The Womanitarian Project is a comprehensive response to Outcome 3 of the Global Acceleration Instrument (GAI) – ensuring that women and girls affected by crisis lead, participate in and benefit from relief and response efforts. With the support of GAI funds, Oxfam will develop an innovative and sustainable model of engaging women’s civil society organisations, and mainstreaming gender into humanitarian response in Solomon Islands, which can be expanded to other locations in the future. A ‘womanitarian’ is a woman who is capable and willing to respond in times of disaster. Womanitarians are ordinary women, of all ages and walks of life, who have a deep understanding of their community needs and an innate sense of concern for the protection of vulnerable people, including women, children and people with disabilities. Oxfam believes that resourcing and mobilising a critical mass of womanitarians is the key to gender sensitive and protection focused humanitarian response in Solomon Islands."

Statim Faia Project - Queens Youth Leaders Project (SLB-0030)
The project aims to support young women and young menin Solomon Islands to participate and have their voices heard on issues they care about. Oxfam seeks to do this through a multi-layered approach; firstly, by supporting and strengthening the existing, nationally recognised Youth Council system to better provide services and represent its youth constituency. Secondly, it seeks to work with youth groups who may have never had the opportunity to receive training, mentoring and funding to turn their ideas into projects for change. Lastly, it seeks to work with decision-makers and leaders at different levels of society to enable youth inclusionat the community level as well as within government policy decision-making.
