I AFFORD Project
The I AFFORD Project in the Philippines addresses the lack of accessible and secure financial services for poverty-affected Filipinos who are unable to take advantage of social protection and financial programs like savings, loans, micro-insurance and mobile banking payment services. Our innovative digital finance infrastructure platform (I AFFORD) allows poor women and men to save money, transfer cash safely and cheaply, and use electronic payments to sell and buy goods and services that build their livelihoods to prepare for and recover from disasters. The electronic pre-paid card is a key part of the platform that uses a mobile telecommunication system to replace the expensive and restricted services currently available only to the formally employed or business sectors.
