The project proposes a locally rooted, conflict-sensitive approach to advancing inclusive governance, electoral transparency, and grassroots peacebuilding. It aligns with Somaliland’s priorities and builds on momentum generated by earlier interventions. Local civil society organizations collaborated in this project to strengthen local ownership of democratic processes by advocating for inclusivity and supporting women and minority candidates for the 2026 parliamentary and local council elections. They engaged directly with democratic institutions, including the National Electoral Commission and political parties.
