Approximately 500 people belonging to ten citizen action groups were trained in key areas such as public finance, local government budget process, audits, procurement, and community organising and campaigning.

Syria
Reinforcing Civic Response programme - The work included training over 100 Syrian activists in digital security as well as providing HEFAT training to 30 activists and 25 trainers now themselves delivering training.
'Alternative Voices' programme - supported local journalism by Syrian voices to highlight the effects of extremist groups on life in Syria and how some sectors challenge violent narratives.
'My Space' women's centres - established in Ghouta, Idlib and Aleppo. The centre allows women to access the internet with technical assistance from female advisors. More than 4,000 women have used the centres since they opened in 2015.

#LettersToMosul
IWPR helped to airdrop letters of solidarity to the residents of Mosul. The programme was designed to empowering youth and youth groups in Iraq to play an important role in reconciliation, social cohesion and building a stable future. Additionally, extensive training and mentoring, and assisted them in developing and rolling out their ideas. IWPR supports them in producing tens of thousands of individual pieces of citizen journalism and other content.

Reconciliation Initiative
This project trained 140 Afghan journalists and engaged 20,000 young women and men via 200 dialogue forums on related issues around the country. IWPR also produced approximately 250 print and radio articles by young Afghans. Seven citizen watchdog groups were established to investigate issues hindering the peace process, and IWPR helped enhance the capacity of the High Peace Council's spokespeople to better communicate with the public.

Regional Women's Leadership
'Women on the Frontline' programme - IWPR worked to strengthen women-led civil society groups in multiple countries in the MENA region. Additionally, we were able to provide support and training for 21 groups across the region. In-person training included psychosocial and advocacy support for a group of 14 Yazidi female ISIS survivors. Online training and mentoring also supported two social media campaigns in Arabic, Kurdish and English on the safe return of Yezidi women and UN commitments on women, peace and security.

Sri Lanka: Reporting for Change
Reporting for Change investigative journalism project: Selected and trained 73 journalists, supporting them to produce investigative stories. Three dozen pieces were completed and appeared in local print and electronic media. IWPR also provided an opportunity for web-based journalists, students and civil society organisations to enhance their knowledge through investigative reporting evening classes. IWPR continued its advocacy work, holding dialogue sessions linking government and media.

Public policy debates. Investigative journalism, developing strong cross- boundary links between Georgia and its two breakaway republics. IWPR partnered with UN Women to strengthen the role of women in peace-building at the national, regional and community levels. IWPR Caucasus also significantly increased its indigenous language outputs to reach the populations directly. IWPR developed web-based training courses and held meetings in safer countries due to the restriction on movement at the time.

Free Voices (Aswat Horra)
Aswat Horra aims to protect, empower, connect and amplify democratic voices in Libya, Lebanon, and other fragile countries in the Middle East and North Africa, by building local capacities and resilience to threats to freedom of expression.
IWPR and its partners will build the capacity of civil society organisations to develop evidence and learning for effective approaches to expanding Freedom of Expression (FoE) in challenging contexts. The programme will directly benefit local CSOs, civic activists, infomediaries, media professionals, lawyers and legal defence groups in the target countries through action research, trialling innovations and scaling effective approaches to building free and open societies.
