Project Start-up Workshop
The project start-up meeting was conducted from 9th to 12th of September 2012 at the conference hall of Summit Villas Suites, Abuja, Nigeria.
This activity marked formal take-off of project implementation.
The main purpose of the workshop was to provide space for deepening understanding of project amongst project staff, in terms of design, key outputs, strategies, scope and expected roles of each partner organization.
A total of 24 staff of the implementing partners participated in the 4-days workshop.
The activity is a one-off activity and has been completed.
This activity for a four days process which commenced on 9th September and ended on 14th September 2012

Community Entry (Open Community Meetings and Advocacy)
This activity was designed with the key objective of mobilizing the target communities for acceptance and participation in the project. Target groups included: community leaders, leaders of youth groups and key gatekeepers.
State Project staff organized series of meetings at the community/ward level in all the selected project states. The meetings provided space for introducing the project to the communities, as well as interaction between project staff and community.
This activity was implemented over a period of 3 months because of the need to ensure that all project communities were involved in some way. The project is being implemented in a total of 320 communities spread across 16 LGAs in 4 project states.

Improving Youth Reproductive Health in Northern Nigeria Project- YOUTH ACCESS
“Improving Youth Reproductive Health in Northern Nigeria (Y-ACCESS)” project is a capacity strengthening and reproductive health improvement project targeting adolescents and young people (aged 10 – 24 years) for demand, uptake and delivery of comprehensive youth friendly reproductive health (RH) services.
The goal of the project is to contribute to the reduction of the impact of poverty and improve the reproductive health status of adolescents and young people in the project states. The purpose of the project is to scale-up the availability and access to comprehensive reproductive health services for adolescents and young people. To achieve this, the project is:
• strengthening the capacity of health service providers to provide quality and comprehensive reproductive health services to adolescents and young people,
• improving knowledge and skills of adolescents and young people, to access reproductive health information and services
• as well as improving social, financial and policy environment that enable young people exercise their rights in accessing reproductive health information and services
Young people (aged 10-24 years) are direct beneficiaries on the project and other secondary beneficiaries are health care workers (from both formal and informal sectors), community gatekeepers and policy/decision makers at state and LGA levels.
Project is currently in the 4th and final year of implementation.
Project commenced in September 2012
Project will end in February 2016
